Everyone has probably had some remote connection to English by now. After spending so much time studying the language, especially after taking preparatory courses, my lack of knowledge about the language had led me to develop prejudices against it. But then I met the Turkuaz Language Family and its esteemed instructors. After starting this course, I started everything from scratch, putting aside all my prejudices. We set out with our instructors, saying, “That cat will come here!” We didn’t even spend a year studying, but we followed the path our instructors showed us, sometimes working all night on homework, sometimes staying in the course for 12 hours, and the result: That cat came.

The English teaching techniques at the Turkuaz Foreign Language Course enabled me to grasp the logic of language learning and, by understanding the fundamental logic of each structure without memorizing the rules, to gain a broad perspective on its characteristics. Later, by learning the subtleties of translation techniques, I improved my language comprehension and use skills. This resulted in a score of 72.5 on the Fall 2015 YDS exam. Another benefit of this training was joining the translation team at Düşünbil Magazine. Reading English articles in academic literature became easier. I don’t remember what year it was when I started the YDS (University Entrance Exam) exam. I think it was one of the last easy ÜDS exams. In this context, as if being from a generation “stuck in limbo” wasn’t enough, we weren’t just students, as our professors said, “I need students who know what they don’t know.” He first corrected our misconceptions until he got us to the level he wanted, then established the understanding that we didn’t know anything, and then the rest followed. This part of the process, which required great patience, was the most important gain for me. Technically, the translation-based courses—the integration of grammar within translation—translate the language into a functional, enjoyable whole. So much so that you love English and don’t give up until you get the score you want, and it doesn’t feel like a burden. I exaggerated and turned it into a financial asset; I earned my living by translating while pursuing my master’s degree.

Just five months ago, my English proficiency was even worse than zero, due to the lessons I’d only taken in school. If anyone had told me back then that I’d achieve such impressive results so quickly (partly because I’d seen people around me who had suffered from other courses), I wouldn’t have believed it. This is the first exam I’ve taken since starting the course, and the results are already clear, but with the new exam experience I’ve gained, I believe I’ll be able to perform even better in future exams. Yes, Turkuaz Language Family truly succeeds; they teach the language in every way. I owe a debt of gratitude to the Turkuaz Language Family for all of this. Beyond being an institution with high work ethic and worth every penny, they have a truly warm and welcoming environment. I’m very sad that I can’t continue for longer, but I’m sure that soon there will be no one left in my family and friends who hasn’t studied at Turkuaz.

I believe I made the biggest investment in my future by choosing Turkuaz Language Education Center. Despite studying English for nearly nine years before starting university, I hadn’t made any progress. First of all, I would like to sincerely thank Turkuaz Language Course for the education they provided. For a long time, I had been struggling with learning a foreign language. Before starting Turkuaz Language Course, I had taken a language exam and scored as low as 46.25. This really upset me and made me think that I would never succeed. After quite some time, I came across Turkuaz Language Course, and I realized that this center was different from the others. Because not every institute can provide training in speaking, listening, writing, and reading at the same time, and even if they do, it often falls short. First, they gave us fundamental knowledge on how a foreign language should be learned, especially regarding grammar. This was a turning point for me. The English conversations we had with my classmates helped me gain confidence, and I started to say to myself: Yes, I can do this. Later on, both visual and auditory vocabulary training was provided. Thanks to this, I was able to read and listen to even very long passages with ease. They always encouraged us to truly learn English, not just focus on exams. In addition, we wrote paragraphs in English about ourselves and various topics, and then discussed them beautifully with our classmates. As a result of all this, I achieved a good score of 75.
